Therapeutic Deep Tissue

Deep tissue works on the multiple layers of fascia, muscle, tendon, nerve, and interstitial structures.  It works with both small muscle injuries as well as chronic problems.  It’s an excellent way to deal with a whiplash or sports injury, postural misalignment treating spasms as well as muscle tension.  The focused treatment concentrates on treating specific tissue areas holding tension, muscular knots, adhesions, and muscular weakness by using slow, specific and deliberate strokes that help with postural deviances and abnormal muscle tone.  The treatment does not force pressure into the muscle, but applies pressure until the muscle pushes back against the pressure, allowing proprioception correction in the musculotendinous junction as it releases and corrects bringing true relief.

An adjunct to deep tissue work is the role of tools to relieve pain, expand range of motion, and bring better blood, lymph, and nerve flow to tissues.  In China an ancient modality called Gua Sha developed over thousands of years.  Recently in America there has also risen a therapy called Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation, IASTM. Here at Align Bodyworks we have similar tools made of copper that are especially designed to work out physical adhesions and biological barriers without pain or bruising.  Soft, smooth flowing strokes work out the minute adhesions in the tissue effectively to bring better blood flow without the intense techniques commonly used in PT and Chiropractic.  We always have these tools readily available.  Ask if you would like to know more of how Align Bodyworks have adapted these similar therapies to finally be enjoyed  in a relaxing manner without pain or bruising.
